It quickly becomes clear that these are not normal missing persons cases - an ancient danger lurks in a labyrinth beneath the town. The pianist Lara Glanz returns to her hometown of Wäldern shortly after her niece Magda disappears. Lara takes a job as a music teacher and begins to search for the girl on her own in her free time. The circumstances of Magdas disappearance seem increasingly ghostly. Other incidents and residents of the sleepy village also puzzle Lara. 15-year-old Aaron Wagner is a new addition to Laras class. The introverted boys mother seeks Laras help. She is strangely worried that her divorced husband is forcing the boy to perform strange rituals. Lara takes on the matter and quickly finds herself confronted with forces that cannot come from this world. Lara finds allies in the esoterically gifted alternative practitioner Dorothea Freiberg (Sabine Vitua) and the emeritus professor Rudolf Klein (Peter Franke). At first the three have no idea what demons they have to face, but then it becomes clear: Lara herself plays a central role in this mystery.
